I enjoy revealing the smooth lustrous appeal of finely finished wood to customers, and the satisfaction of knowing that they will put my pieces to good use. My wood, most often destined to be firewood, is sourced locally at the yard waste site, neighbor’s yards, or donated to me.
In my ceramics work, I search for a balance between wildness and refinement. Using ingredients like wild wood ash, my work is inspired by the natural world and meant to be used. The finished product invites connection – between maker, user, and the ingredients and nature that inspired it. I strive for a perfect blend of beauty and function, bringing art off the walls and into our hands. My work is art that brings moments of joy into otherwise mundane parts of life.
