Functional pottery has an incredibly long history, and my work draws upon many of these traditions. Recently, I’ve become especially interested in work from Medieval and Renaissance European ceramics. German pitchers, Italian jars and Spanish tiles are a rich source of inspiration for my work. The presence of these references may be subtle in my work because my goal is to synthesize and reinterpret these forms in a contemporary context. Lastly, it is my hope that my pots become a part of daily life.
