Through her impressionist approach to pastel paintings, Kathi reinterprets that world around her. “Everywhere I look, I absorb imagery and begin to alter shapes and colors in my mind to elevate the visual experience. I am always questioning and learning, painting each day what moves me into my Happy Place where time doesn’t exist. When choosing a subject, I focus on why I chose to capture an image and how I felt moved by the place. My intoxicating curiosity about water reflections or the light flowing through a flower petal guides me to its essence. My paintings create a memory of joy and wonder — sometimes it feels like they paint themselves.”

Kathi became an award-winning, renowned graphic designer after earning her BFA in Colorado and becoming founder of Dunn+Associates Design in 1985, a nationally recognized book packaging firm. Her professional history also includes managing an art gallery in Denver, teaching marketing for artists in a Colorado college system, running her pottery studios in New Mexico and Colorado, and acting as a juror for fine art and crafts competitions. In 2020 she returned to fine art through Kathi Pearson Art where she now works joyfully out of her pastel painting studio in the northwoods of Hayward, Wisconsin.
