I make useful household items primarily from locally-found hardwood using deep and durable food-safe finishes to reveal the satisfying warmth and luster of hardwoods. Some of my wood comes from friends and neighbors and some from the local yard waste site. Revealing the beauty in wood is my joy, though it cuts into my time for making music and fishing.

From my studio on the outskirts of Northfield, I create pottery using materials sourced from the local area, like wood ash from local hardwoods that give me my gently variegated, creamy white glaze. I am constantly inspired by the stunning natural landscape of the Cannon Valley and the colors of our Minnesota waters. My intention is to create work that can be appreciated as a integration of art and daily life, and a reminder of the beautiful world that surrounds us.
