I grew up in Southern Minnesota, and the landscape of the area has been a consistent subject for my work. Filtered through memory and abstraction this imagery has become part of two bodies of work in clay. I make both functional pottery as well as paintings on ceramic canvases. My handmade pottery is meant to enrich the user’s daily life and my mixed-media paintings combine the sculptural physicality of clay with layered, painterly surfaces.
